California Baby Bug repellent does NOT prevent ticks. My daughter was just diagnosed with Lyme disease and after our pediatrician reviewed the label of our bug repellent spray, she informed me the natural formula marketed by the company is not effective for tick prevention. The company claims on its website Purpose: Repels fleas, mosquitoes, ticks and biting flies. (See below for claim)
In order to effectively repel ticks, according to our doctor and the CDC, the repellent must either contain DEET (for skin) or pemthethrin (for clothing), of which California baby has neither. I wish this claim had not been made on the product; as I live in a highly wooded area with a lot of deer and animals that can transfer ticks, but too little, too late.
