Teddy Bear

The hybrid Teddy Bear has a life expectancy of 12 to 16 years.

Origin
The Teddy Bear is the result of a few different designer breeds. The Teddy Bear can be a mix of the Shih Tzu and the Poodle (Shih Poo), the Bichon Frise and the Toy Poodle (Poochon) or the Bichon Frise and the Shiz Tzu (Zuchon). In some cases, the Teddy Bear can be a mix of all three breeds. Designer breeds like the Teddy Bear have been bred both for their looks and their allergy-friendly coats.

Size
The size of the Teddy Bear varies but generally the dog is small, weighing 12 to 14 pounds and measuring no more than 12 inches.

Grooming Needs
The Teddy Bear is a low shedding breed with a soft and fluffy coat that resembles a stuffed animal. The Teddy Bear’s coat can be kept long or clipped into a short “puppy cut.” The Teddy Bear needs frequent grooming to prevent their coat from becoming matted and tangled. They need daily brushing and a regular bath.

Like all dogs, the Teddy Bear also needs basic grooming. Brush their teeth, clean their ears and trim their nails on a regular basis.

Character
The Teddy Bear is people-oriented, well-mannered and friendly.

Temperament
The temperament of the Teddy Bear is dependent on their breeding, but typically they are affectionate and playful. The Teddy Bear makes a great family dog. They love to cuddle and love to play.

The Teddy Bear is outgoing and social. They get along with everyone including children, other pets and other dogs. Teddy Bears grow quite attached to their families and want to be with them as much as possible. If left alone for too long, they can develop separation anxiety.

Training Needs
The Shih Tzu, Poodle and Bichon Frise are all intelligent breeds and naturally, so is the Teddy Bear. The Teddy Bear is eager to please and learn. The Teddy Bear is generally easy to train; they do very well at picking up commands and tricks. However, like many smaller dogs, the Teddy Bear can be difficult to housebreak. Lots of praise and treats as well as a consistent routine can help them along.

Activity Level
The Teddy Bear is not a highly active dog. For their health the Teddy Bear needs a daily walk and some time either inside or outside to play.

However, since Melanie utilized adult situations to showcase the Cry Baby character as a child experiencing mature things, the song and the teddy bear could also be metaphorically interpreted as a relationship that took a turn for the worse.

Cry Baby loved her teddy bear (or guy) because he was nice, he listened, and trusted. She doesn’t understand where everything went wrong and why her bear suddenly wants to kill her. Even though she’s not so innocent in the matter in the second verse.
